Mrs Guðlaug Rakel Guðjónsdóttir is Chief of Clinical Services at Landspítali – The National University Hospital of Iceland. She heads the geriatric services, mental health services, internal medicine and rehabilitation, patient flow and emergency and disaster preparedness services for Landspítali.
Due to Iceland’s geographical position Landspítali´s emergency services are responsible for emergency medical services to all aviation and marine traffic in the North Atlantic reaching from the South of the Faroe Islands to Canada.
She has been at the front of leadership at Landspítali for a number of years with continued emphasis on improvement efforts, risk management and patient safety. In her reserach she has focused on descriptive epidemiology of Emergency Department users at Landpítali University Hospital.
She is an active member of a number of professional administrators and leadership associations focusing on the professional development of public administrators.
